Smiters in CA
Is it me, or are those Mo/W smiters in CA the hardest to heal?
I play a heal monk and a prot monk, and quite honestly I absolutely hate having a smiter on my team. Why? First off they never seem to do enough damage, and secondly, they're the ones who always seem to need the most healing, and the ones who always scream "HEAL ME HEAL ME!...OMG YOU SUCK MONK! YOU COULDN'T KEEP ME ALIVE! WTF!"
Perhaps it's the fact that they're a primary monk and they're targeted first, which is why they take so much damage. But honestly, I have my doubts. With my experience with having smiters on my team, sometimes I'm reluctant to heal them especially when they're an a$$ about screaming for heals...

Weird everyone says monks are targeted first, because as a Mesmer, 95% of the time I'm the one raped first.

thats because so many monks are only capable of healing themselves. in CA, if you go for monk first, let him cast guardian, prot spirit whatever other crap he has... then switch to a mesmer... the mesmer will go down fast, there are some pretty good boon prot monks out there, but like i say, a lot of them just expect to be targeted first and can only really help themselves - which i suppose works if your opponents have a team that will spend all day whacking away at the monk

Simply put -- they don't know how to make best use of the Smiting line.
Check the differences between Warrior armour and Monk armour -- it's a massive 20AL ( pre-bonuses ). Against physical damage the difference is even greater (40AL). But still they charge in ( with their Sword/Axe/Hammer + Shield being a dead giveaway ) actually expecting to be able to take punishment like a Warrior or Ranger -- usually through use of +Health enchantments ( same goes for IW mesmers ).
I've gotta be honest -- my advice to you would be to let them die. They take the majority of your energy and time to keep alive for minimum effect.
I'd concentrate on healing other more useful:
Monks -> Healers, Protectors, Smite Monks that actually drop Judge's and Balths on the real damage dealers
Mesmers -> Those nice Domination Mesmers with Power Block (E) and skills like Drain Enchantment, Inspired Hex
Necro's -> Those nice Curse Necro's that are making the other teams Warriors/Rangers hit 50% slower
Rangers -> Those nice interupt Rangers
Water/Air/Earth Eles -> Especially ones with snares
Or that useful Warrior with Frenzy, Sprint and Drain Enchant/Rend
These are the people that will win you the fight. Not some chump that runs in with Sword + Shield, low armour and Balthazars Aura expecting to WTFPWN everything. It's a "self build" rather than a team build.

lol a smiter can cause more dmg than any of those ppl if played properly, im talking tombs here btw
A glyph smiter really does add a ton of DPS to a warrior with bals, judge, windbourne, and then glyph of renewal on smite hex or Symbol of wrath.
A Smiter is like any other char, just cos someone is a smiter is no reason to get pissed off or not heal him.

yeah, if you play as a smiter in CA you are aparently automatically a noob, cause "smites suck".
seriously, even the warriors that i put strength of honor on still hate me, and they never seem to notice when an enemy gets reduced to half his health from an soj double cast...

While I don't regard every smiter I see as a "noob", I have to say that most of the smiters I've met have not exactly been the best...as in...one of the most annoying to heal, because they seriously die in a matter of seconds...

The objection here isn't to smiters, but to bad smiters. Not even all Mo/W's with a weapon are bad -- I've seen some fairly nasty ones that run up to you and feed you a hammer bash + max holy strike for ~170 damage, then throw shield of judgment on themselves when the rangers start pounding them.
Bad smiters -- the ones that throw up balth's aura and gladiator's defense and chase you around with a sword, only to die horribly when an ele looks their way -- are around, and they're horrid, as people have pointed out. But they're bad not because they're smiters; they're probably just as sucktastic playing warrior or ele, for instance.
@Man With No Name: You imply that fire eles are bad in PvP. Fire eles are just like smiters: the ones that run firestorm and expect people to bathe in it are bad, but it's possible to make a *very* nasty pvp fire ele.
